The Center for Jewish Studies offers a number of awards to support study or research in Jewish studies at the UW, at institutions in the U.S. with educational programs not available on this campus, and abroad. Within this category, we also offer awards making it possible for students to attend academic conferences related to Jewish studies.
To apply for a study/research award, please download the Application for Study & Research Support and submit it to the Scholarship Committee at scholarships@cjs.wisc.edu with the required documentation.
Please note that we also offer three awards with their own application processes and deadlines:
If you have declared a Jewish Studies major or are ready to declare one, you are eligible to apply for the Maimonides Scholarship, which offers substantial support to Jewish Studies majors. Applications will be considered based on both merit and financial need.
If you are an undergraduate student with an interest in both Jewish Studies and African American Studies, you may be interested in the Joint Scholarship in African American and Jewish Studies.
If you are a graduate student whose research focuses on Jewish studies, please consider applying for our Laurence A. Weinstein Distinguished Graduate Fellowship. We invite applications for this fellowship every two years in our Spring scholarship competition.
In addition, in our Spring scholarship competition, we offer achievement awards to recognize excellence in Jewish studies.
Students may apply for multiple awards.
