2025 New York City Field Trip

The application period for this field trip has now passed.

Explore African American and Jewish culture, history, and community in New York City with the Center for Jewish Studies and the Department of African American Studies in Spring 2025.

This trip will take students to iconic neighborhoods and boroughs of the city such as Harlem, Brooklyn, and the Lower East Side. Experience Jewish and Black culture through food, museums, walking tours, and more.

This field trip is part of our Joint Initiative in African American and Jewish Studies, which was designed to encourage a comparative, cross-disciplinary approach to the study of African Americans and Jews.

Launched in 2023, the Joint Initiative in African American and Jewish Studies is made possible
by a fund originally established by Esther Leah Ritz.

We are seeking applicants who have demonstrated a distinct interest in both African American Studies and Jewish Studies.
